Peru & Machu Picchu
The shape of the Intiwatana closely resembles the shape of the two mountains behind it. Dual meanings were an important part of Inca beliefs, so the resemblance was probably intended. The 3 levels carved into the stone represent the spiritual world, the earthly world and the underworld. This is the most perfectly preserved Hitching Post of the Sun in Peru, although it was chipped recently by a falling boom during the filming of a beer commercial.
