Peru & Machu Picchu
Another set of ruins is at Ollantaytambo, at the north end of the Sacred Valley near Machu Picchu. The site was built by Ollan before the expansion of the Inca empire in the 1400s. It was the last refuge of Manco Inca when he fled Cusco after his defeat by Pizarro. Once again he made a stand, and nearly defeated the Spaniards by flooding the valley.
