Oat Hill Mine Trail

The small Silver Puff (Uropappus lindleyi, formerly Microseris lindleyi) flower looks like a tiny dandelion at the tip of a long, slender, green stem. The flower head has yellow, square-tipped, toothed ray flowers and pointed, green bracts that extend beyond the rays to create radiating, star-like points. Instead of the typical dandelion seed head, the flowers are followed by silvery white, spherical seed heads that look like Blow Wives seed heads, but with thinner pappus/scales.
