Blue-footed Booby Whistling for his Mate This male Blue-footed Booby (Sula nebouxii excisa) is whistling for his mate. Females make a honking sound and have a larger eye pupil, otherwise they look alike. Boobies received their name because they appear clumsy, are totally unafraid of man, and so were easily captured by sailors for dinner. North Seymour Island.
