Colonial Hydroids (Pennaria disticha) This is a beautiful Colonial Hydroid (Pennaria disticha) feeding with its feathery stinging tentacles extended. Each branch is about 5" long. The colony is made up of thousands of tiny polyps fused together to form the hydroid. Each tiny animal starts out looking like a free swimming jellyfish. Hydroids are close relatives of jellyfish.

Swimming nearby is a cloud of Cardinalfish (Apogonid). Dive/snorkel trip to Floreana.
