Azure Parrotfish (Scarus compressus) at Las Grietas This is probably the Azure Parrotfish (Scarus compressus). At night parrotfish find a hole or an overhanging rock ledge to rest until morning. Many secrete a loose mucus cocoon that coats their entire body. The cocoon may somehow protect them from potential predators like sharks that locate their prey using their sense of smell. The far end of this crevice is called Shark Alley! Las Grietas, Santa Cruz Island.
