Blue-footed Boobies Flying in Close Formation After coming up, the entire group of Blue-footed Boobies flew directly toward us. Boobies often hunt in flocks. The first booby to spot a fish gives a whistle to call the rest of the group, then they all follow the first bird and attack the school of fish as a group! Even though they hunt as a group, each booby likes to eat alone. (The other two types of boobies fish in a similar way, but farther out to sea.) Black Turtle Cove, Santa Cruz Island.
