Waved Albatross on its Take Off Plunge The Waved Albatross needs to walk from the interior of the island toward the cliffs before taking off. This albatross has just jumped off of the cliff and spread its wings to fly. Albatross are pelagic birds flying long distances over open waters without touching land for many days or even months. They can live for 66 years, but many die each year in fishing nets. Punta Suarez, Espanola Island.
