Hood (Espanola) Mockingbird The Hood (Espanola) Mockingbird (Nesomimus macdonaldi) has a much longer, more curved beak than those on other islands. Like most Galapagos species, they are quite unafraid of people and very curious, but the Hood mockingbird is also extremely aggressive. We have just interrupted this bird's hunt for lizard eggs. If the parents have 2 clutches of chicks in one season, the older chicks help care for the younger ones. Gardiner Bay, Espanola Island.
