Los Gemelos (The Twins), Santa Cruz Island We took a van up to the highlands to see Los Gemelos (The Twins), a pair of sink holes about 11 miles out of Puerto Ayora in the highlands of Santa Cruz Island. These "craters" are really huge lava domes that collapsed. We are near the highest point on the island (2,835'). It is definitely cooler and more moist here, a completely different environment. It is always wet here from fog during the cool season (July - November) and from rain during the wet season.
