Short-eared Owl Galapagos Short-eared Owls (Asio flammeus galapagoensis) hunt for Storm Petrels that nest in the lava crevices of this plateau. The short tufts of feathers that look like ears only show when the owl is defending itself. Genovesa is the only place you can see these owls.
