Costa Rica
This is the milky green water of Volcán Irazú. At 11,259' it is the highest volcano in Costa Rica. It is known as Colossus because of the large number of catastrophic eruptions and debris spread far and wide. It has been active 41 times since 1723 with some eruptions lasting 3 years. From 1963 to 1965 it erupted, killed many people and caused a huge mudslide, severely damaging the town of Cartago below. It was rumbling during our visit, and the water had changed color.
