Costa Rica
The Green Heron (also called the Green-backed Heron) breeds in North America and "winters" in Costa Rica. It is much smaller than the Blue Heron we see here in California. A few years ago some Green-backed Herons in Japan started scattering bread crumbs (or other bits of food or even feathers) on the water to attract fish. They appear to have learned this behavior from people who came to a public park to feed the carp! Sometimes the Green Heron will stand on one foot and shake the other foot to attract fish.
