Child Selling Fiddles

This happy child is selling a traditional two-stringed fiddle at Mebon, one of the earliest temples dating back to 953AD. This picture was taken in 1968 when the Khmer Rouge were training rural citizens here to serve in the rebel forces. Few survived the American carpet bombings in 1973, and fewer still survived the genocide of Phol Pot, or the Vietnamese invasion in 1979.
