Strangler Fig at Ta Prohm

Ta Prohm and all the other monuments were abandoned to the jungle when the Siamese sacked it in 1432. At that time there were 615 dancers, 2202 assistants and 79,635 maintenance staff here. They watched over 1100 lbs. of gold dishes, 35 diamonds, 40,620 pearls, 876 Chinese brocades, 512 silk beds and 523 parasols, among other things. A stele in sanscrit records all of this information. The wealth of Ta Prohm was funded by taxes on 3,140 villages.
