God King w/ Banyan Root Hair

This photo of a face tower at Ta Prohm was taken in 1968, just before the Tet offensive in Vietnam. The image of the God-King is particularly charming draped by the roots of a strangler fig. The tree, however, was dying and had to be removed in 1998. In the years that followed Cambodia was bombed intensively and much damage was done by occupying troops. The land mines at Ta Prom were removed in 1992 by UN troops.
