BEP Mushrooms

The Strict Coral Mushroom (Ramaria stricta) does indeed look like coral. The term stricta means that its branches are erect or straight. When fresh this species has fine branch tips that are pale yellow to pale greenish-yellow. As it ages it becomes pinkish-tan, a little orange or tan. When bruised, it turns brownish. This species grows on wood, although the wood is often an invisible buried log. This one is orangish, so the buried log is most likely a hardwood.
