BEP Mushrooms

Split-Split Gill Mushrooms (Schizophyllum commune) are in their own family and have few close relatives. This specimen that looks like a polypore with fringe-like edges is unusual - most have a smooth, wavy edge. Split-Gills revive when moistened. One museum specimen gathered in 1911 unrolled, expanded and began releasing spores when it was moistened 50 years later!
