BEP Mushrooms

Pungent Slippery Jack (Suillus pungens) caps are slimy when moist and shiny when dry like this one. The color can be this grey-green, rusty brown or mottled or streaked - highly variable. When it is young, the pores (not gills) are white with drops of whitish latex. Next to it under a Monterey Pine, is a Pine Spike (Chroogomphus vinicolor). Pine Spikes are pale orange with black spores.
