BEP Mushrooms

The brilliant yellow cap of the Questionable Stropharia (Stropharia ambigua) looks shiny when it is moist. The white tatters of its veil often decorate the edges of the cap. The stalks look a bit spindly and are hollow. The gills start out pale grey and darken as the purple spores mature. Look for them under conifers and sometimes hardwoods. The only questionable characteristic is its edibility. It's not poisonous, but it tastes like old leaves.
