BEP Mushrooms

The Bleeding Mycena, unlike its tiny relatives, is easy to identify. They are found on decaying hardwoods - small purple-brown mushrooms with white gills and spores. Squeeze the base of its stem, and it will "bleed" a purple juice that stains your fingers. The cap is cone-shaped when young. White tissue around the edge of the cap sometimes forms a scalloped rim that is quite lovely.
