Some of the bracts under the flowerhead of the Serpentine Coyotemint are bent down, a distinctive feature. The leaves are not hairy and the stem is sometimes purple. This uncommon native blooms in late spring and summer as does the Common Coyotemint. Plants in serpentine barrens and serpentine prairie can be threatened by invasive grasses, particularly when conditions change and favor exotic plants (specifically more water or nutrients).
