Bohemia Ecological Preserve

The Spotted Coralroot Orchid has no leaves and no photosynthetic green tissues. It is a parasite whose roots attach to the mycelium of fungi such as Russula. Usually the side petals are reddish, and the lip petal is white with deep red spots. Sometimes, however, the colors are significantly changed by influences of nearby trees through the fungal mycelium! Orchid Family.
