Bohemia Ecological Preserve

Fat or False Solomon Seal is a common plant found on the forest floor in riparian areas. The original Solomon's Seal, found in Europe, is in the genus Polygonatum. Tender young shoots stripped of their leaves, can be simmered in water and eaten. Their delicate flavor is somewhat reminiscent of asparagus - but it can act as a strong laxative in sensitive individuals. Unless clearly abundant, no wild plants should be harvested - and of course never in a preserve or park.
