Bohemia Ecological Preserve

This unidentified spider is sitting on a thick web mat - on a very Sticky Western Rosinweed plant, long dead - but still sticky. The spider is about 1/4" from palps to spinarettes. It may be a Nursery Web Spider in the Pisauridae family. They resemble wolf spiders, but they carry their egg sacs with their jaws and pedipalps. When the eggs are about to hatch, a mother spider builds a nursery tent, puts her egg sac inside, and stands guard outside. This spider definitely looks like she is on guard!
