Bohemia Ecological Preserve

This slightly hairy, red-stemmed bud is the uncommon Hairy Gumplant. As the bud opens it will produce a thick white "gummy" substance, thus its name. The flower looks like a yellow daisy when open. The outer phyllaries are curved outward, but not sharply curved back like the common Gumplant (Grindelia hirsutula) that grows along coastal bluffs.
