Bohemia Ecological Preserve

Naked Buckwheat has round puffs of flowers (white or pink or yellow) with no leaves on the tall, branched stem. It has a basal rosette of leaves that often turn red as they dry. In the flowerhead, you often can see a delightful little insect that mimics the flower petals. This very common native plant attracts large numbers of insects to dine on its nectar. Buckwheat (Polygonaceae) Family.
