Dense Mistletoe is a parasitic plant that only grows on cypress and junipers. It is an important food source for many birds. The male and female flowers are on separate plants. The male flowers are round and knoblike, and the female flowers produce round berries that are yellowish or pale pink when ripe. Dense Mistletoe is in the Sandalwood Family (Santalaceae). The grey-green branches around the edges of the photo belong to the Sargent Cypress.
